KMagistrates—-Adjudicate civil cases in which damages do not exceed prescribed maximum established by state law, and minor misdemeanor cases not involving penitentiary sentences or fines in excess of maximum amount to be levied under state laws. Conduct preliminary hearings in felony cases to determine whether there is reasonable and probable cause to hold defendant for further proceedings or trial by superior court. May adjudicate cases involving motor vehicle laws and be designated a Traffic-court Magistrate.
Exclude the following occupations: Appeals reviewers (conduct hearings and determine validity of claims for veteran's benefits); mediators or conciliators (mediate and conciliate disputes over negotiations of labor agreement or other labor disputes); arbitrators (arbitrate disputes between management and labor to bind both to specific terms and conditions of labor contract). These jobs are included in B027.
