Handbook of Methods Modeled Wage Estimates Data Sources

Modeled Wage Estimates: Data Sources

The Modeled Wage Estimates (MWE) are derived from data collected by the Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics (OEWS) and National Compensation Survey (NCS) programs and, as a result, no additional response burden is imposed in generating these data.

The Handbook of Methods for the OEWS and the NCS provide information regarding collection and data sources for each survey.

Confidentiality

All data collected in the OEWS and NCS are subject to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) confidentiality requirements that prevent the disclosure of identifying information. Data collected through these surveys are used solely for statistical purposes. BLS has a strict confidentiality policy which ensures that the survey sample composition, lists of responding establishments, and names of respondents are kept confidential. In addition, the policy assures respondents that published figures will not reveal the identity of any establishment and will not allow the data of any establishment to be identified. Each published estimate is screened to ensure that it meets these confidentiality requirements.
