National Longitudinal Surveys: Presentation

The primary outputs of the National Longitudinal Surveys (NLS) are datasets containing individual-level observations (NLS microdata), which are available for use by business, government and individual decision-makers and the researchers who support the decision-making process. NLS microdata are available through the NLS Investigator website. The site is updated with data from new rounds as they are completed. Restricted-use data files providing more detailed geographic information than the public-use files are made available to qualified applicants who agree to become temporary agents of the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Extensive documentation of NLS data are available to users at the NLS program webpage and NLS information webpage; some links to cohort-specific pages are provided below.

In addition, a glossary of NLS terms can be found online.
