Recent changes in the growth of U.S. multifactor productivity

Since 1979, multifactor productivity growth has recovered completely only in manufacturing; for the rest of private business, growth has recovered partially, but remains below the 1948-73 trend rate. The present article contributes to the discussion by presenting and analyzing recent Bureau of Labor Statistics measures of growth in multifactor productivity in the United States.
