Sources of increasing inequality in wages and salaries, 1960-80

Intersectoral employment shifts appear to be much more important than regional and demographic shifts in the increase in inequality; however, the trend seems to be driven chiefly by developments within labor force groups, rather than movements among them. This article examines reasons for earnings inequality from 1960 to 1980.
