Revisions to growth rates of output per hour in a new BLS method for constructing such measures were small in most industries covered. This article introduces this newly adopted method for constructing the output measures associated with industry labor productivity statistics generated by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Because the new method produced little change in long-term movements of labor productivity, the original method appears to have been providing reasonable measures of trends in industry labor productivity.
