Multifactor productivity in the metal stampings industry

On average, multifactor productivity showed no growth over the 1963-91 period. A 0.9-percent average gain in labor productivity was due entirely to increases in capital and intermediate purchases relative to labor. This article presents for the first time a multifactor productivity measure for the metal stampings industry, whose labor productivity has been measured since 1985.
