From 1977 to 1994, the mobile homes industry experienced very modest long-term productivity growth reflecting wide fluctuations in demand and limited investment in new capital; however, output has grown significantly in the past few years, along with consumer demand. A new measure of industry productivity from the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that output per hour increased at an average annual rate of 0.6 percent between 1977 and 1994.
