Counties with most rapid growth in employment, March 2004-March 2005

In March 2005, Clark, Nevada (which includes Las Vegas), had the biggest over-the-year percentage increase in employment among the largest counties in the U.S.

Employment grew by 7.6 percent in Clark County from March 2004 to March 2005, while the nation as a whole experienced job growth of 1.7 percent.
Lee, Florida, in the southwestern part of the State, had the next largest increase, 7.5 percent. The counties with the next highest rates of job growth were Rutherford, Tennessee (in the center of the State), Seminole, Florida (near Daytona Beach), and Montgomery, Texas (near Houston).
The BLS Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages program produced these data, which are preliminary and subject to revision. Employment data presented here are for all workers covered by State and Federal unemployment insurance programs. The largest counties are those with employment levels of 75,000 or more—there are 322 such counties.
