U.S. import price indexes by country or region of origin

Prices for all U.S. imports decreased 9.6 percent from May 2014 to May 2015. These declines were partly driven by a 40.6-percent drop in petroleum prices and a 41.9-percent drop in natural gas prices over the May 2014–May 2015 period. Prices for imports from the Asia Near East region decreased 31.8 percent over the 12 months ending in May, and prices for imports from Canada declined 17.7 percent.

The price indexes for imports from France and China each decreased 1.1 percent from May 2014 to May 2015, the smallest declines among the individual countries or regions for which BLS calculates separate indexes.
