Utah County, Utah, has largest over-the-year percent gain in employment, June 2015

From June 2014 to June 2015, employment increased in 319 of 342 counties with 75,000 or more jobs. Among these large counties, Utah County, Utah, had the largest increase, with a gain of 7.5 percent over the year. That compares with national job growth of 2.0 percent.

Among the largest counties, others with the largest percent increases in employment from June 2014 to June 2015 were Lee County, Florida (6.4 percent); Williamson County, Tennessee (6.3 percent); Hall County, Georgia (5.8 percent); Brazoria County, Texas (5.6 percent); and Denton County, Texas (5.1 percent).

Over the year, employment declined in 20 of the largest counties in June 2015. Ector County, Texas, had the largest percentage decrease (−4.2 percent).

Over the year, national employment increased 2.0 percent, or 2.8 million in June 2015. The 342 largest counties accounted for 72.1 percent of total U.S. employment. These counties had a net job growth of 2.2 million over the year, accounting for 78.3 percent of the increase in U.S. employment.
