The incidence rate was 104.0 cases per 10,000 full-time workers, down from 107.1 in 2014. The median days away from work to recuperate, a key measure of severity of injuries and illnesses, was 8 days, down from 9 days in 2014.
Within private industry, three industries experienced more than 100,000 nonfatal occupational injuries and illnesses that required days away from work to recuperate in 2015: healthcare and social assistance (158,410), retail trade (123,770), and manufacturing (122,610).

In 2015, the incidence rates for health care (113.6 cases), retail trade (105.3 cases) and manufacturing (99.0 cases) were greater than the rate of 93.9 cases per 10,000 full-time workers for private industry. Among major industries, transportation and warehousing had the highest incidence rate, with 204.3 cases per 10,000 full-time workers. Professional, scientific, and technical services had the lowest rate, with 22.8 cases per 10,000 full-time workers.
The industries that recorded the highest median days away from work to recuperate from injuries and illnesses in 2015 were mining (29), transportation and warehousing (20), utilities (19), and information (18).
