In March 2016, 13 percent of all private workers had access to paid family leave. Twenty-four percent of workers in management, professional, and related occupations had access to paid family leave, more than any other major occupation. Within this subset of workers, 28 percent of workers with management, business, and financial jobs had access to paid family leave, the greatest proportion of any occupation measured.

Workers in production, transportation, and material moving jobs (6 percent), service jobs (7 percent), and natural resources, construction, and maintenance jobs (8 percent) were the least likely to have access to paid family leave of the major occupations measured.
Family leave is granted to an employee to care for a family member and includes paid maternity and paternity leave. Paid family leave is given in addition to any sick leave, vacation, personal leave, or short-term disability leave that is available to the employee.
