Import air passenger fares fell 9.1 percent from August 2015 to August 2016. This decline continued a longer trend; the last 12-month increase in import airfares occurred from March 2014 to March 2015.

Asian airfares, which last increased over the year ending October 2014, had the largest decrease from August 2015 to August 2016, 9.4 percent. European airfares fell 8.4 percent over the year; they last rose from April 2015 to April 2016.
Latin American and Caribbean fares experienced the smallest decline, falling 4.1 percent from August 2015 to August 2016. The most recent 12-month price increase for Latin American and Caribbean flights happened from February 2014 to February 2015.
