St. George, Utah, has largest over-the-year percentage increase in employment

From August 2015 to August 2016, nonfarm payroll employment increased in 320 metropolitan areas, decreased in 59 areas, and was unchanged in 8 areas. The largest over-the-year percentage gain in employment occurred in St. George, Utah (7.1 percent), followed by Madera, California (7.0 percent), and Cleveland, Tennessee (6.4 percent).

The largest over-the-year percentage decreases in employment occurred in Lafayette, Louisiana (−4.1 percent), Houma-Thibodaux, Louisiana (−3.4 percent), and Davenport-Moline-Rock Island, Iowa-Illinois (−3.2 percent).
