The Producer Price Index for final demand increased 2.8 percent from February 2017 to February 2018, the same as for the year ended January 2018. Prices for final demand less foods, energy, and trade services increased 2.7 percent, the largest increase since over the year data were available in August 2014.

Within final demand energy, the producer price indexes for finished consumer energy goods (7.2 percent), government purchased energy (15.9 percent), and energy for export (23.4 percent) all increased from February 2017 to February 2018.
For the year ended February 2018, the index for final demand services increased 2.8 percent. The index for trade services, which measures changes in the margins wholesalers and retailers receive, increased 2.6 percent. Prices for transportation and warehousing services increased 3.2 percent.
