Employment and average weekly wages increased in all of the 10 largest U.S. counties from June 2022 to June 2023. Among the areas with the largest over-the-year percentage increases in employment were Harris County, Texas, at 3.6 percent, Miami-Dade County, Florida (3.5 percent), and Maricopa County, Arizona (2.6 percent). In June 2023, national employment rose to 154.3 million, a 2.4-percent increase from June 2022.

In second quarter 2023, some of the largest over-the-year percentage gains in average weekly wages were San Diego County, California (7.0 percent), King County, Washington (6.4 percent), and Miami-Dade County, Florida (4.1 percent).
