Median weekly earnings $1,227 for men, $1,021 for women, first quarter 2024

Median weekly earnings of the nation's 119.2 million full-time wage and salary workers were $1,139 in the first quarter of 2024. Median weekly earnings were $1,227 for men and $1,021 for women.

Among the major race and ethnicity groups, median earnings of Hispanics who worked full time ($879) were lower than those of Blacks ($908), Whites ($1,157), and Asians ($1,505).

By sex, median weekly earnings for Black men ($935) were 74.6 percent of the median for White men ($1,254). Median earnings for Hispanic men ($914) were 72.9 percent of the median for White men.

The difference was less among women, as Black women's median earnings ($887) were 85.3 percent of those for White women ($1,040), and earnings for Hispanic women ($825) were 79.3 percent of those for White women. Earnings of Asian men ($1,679) and women ($1,331) were higher than those of their White counterparts.

These data are from the Current Population Survey and are not seasonally adjusted. The median is the midpoint in the earnings distribution; half of workers earn more than the median and half earn less.
