Producer prices up 2.7 percent from March 2024 to March 2025

The Producer Price Index for final demand increased 2.7 percent over the 12 months ended in March 2025. Final demand prices for goods rose 0.9 percent from March 2024 to March 2025. Within the goods category, prices for foods increased 3.7 percent, while energy prices decreased 6.7 percent. Final demand producer prices for services increased 3.6 percent over the year.

Final demand producer prices rose 2.0 percent over the year ended in March 2024 and 2.7 percent over the year ended in March 2023. Over the past decade, more than half of the March-to-March changes have ranged from 2.0 to 3.0 percent. The largest annual March change was an increase of 11.7 percent over the year ended March 2022. At the other end of the spectrum, producer prices were little changed (−0.1 percent) over the year ended March 2016.
