The influx of baby-boomers into the job market exerted considerable upward pressure on the unemployment rate during the 1960's and 1970's. The maturing of this large population group helped lower the rate in the 1980's and should do so again in the 1990's. This article examines the impact that baby boomers are having on the U.S. labor market.
