Hospital staffing patterns in urban and nonurban areas

Metropolitan hospitals tended to have a higher percentage of professional and technical occupations, while nonmetropolitan hospitals had more paraprofessional occupations related to bedside care, rather than technical treatments. This article profiles trends in occupational employment in hospitals between 1989 and 1992, and presents detailed occupational employment data from the 1992 Occupational Employment Statistics survey of hospitals.
