The hires rate was little changed at 3.5 percent in June 2005. The rate in May was 3.6 percent.
The hires rate changed significantly over the month only in the leisure and hospitality industry, where it increased. The hires rate in leisure and hospitality was 6.8 percent in June, up from 5.9 percent in May.
The hires rate is the number of hires as a percent of total employment. Hires are any additions to the payroll during the month.
