North Dakota has largest over-the-year percentage increase in employment at 5.1 percent

From September 2013 to September 2014, nonfarm employment increased in 49 states and the District of Columbia. Alaska had the only over-the-year decrease in employment (−0.2 percent). The largest over-the-year percentage increase occurred in North Dakota (+5.1 percent), followed by Texas (+3.7 percent) and Utah (+3.6 percent).

Over the same period, 37 states had statistically significant changes in employment, all of which were positive. The largest significant numerical over-the-year job increase occurred in Texas (+413,700 or 3.7 percent), followed by California (+297,000 or 1.9 percent) and Florida (+205,600 or 2.7 percent).
