Import and export air passenger fares decrease in 2015

Export air passenger fares declined 15.0 percent in 2015, the largest calendar-year drop since the index was first published in 1987. Latin American and Caribbean (−17.8 percent), Asian (−14.6 percent), and European (−11.7 percent) export air passenger fares were all down over the year. Export air passenger fare indexes measure changes in fare prices paid to U.S. carriers by foreign residents for international travel.
