Almost half of people employed in sales and related occupations worked weekends and holidays in 2016

On average, almost half of workers employed in sales and related occupations (47.5 percent) worked on weekends and holidays in 2016, the largest percentage among major occupational categories. A large proportion of workers in service occupations (40.2 percent) also worked on an average Saturday, Sunday, and holiday, although people employed in service occupations had the lowest rate of working weekdays (69.8 percent) among major occupational categories in 2016.

People employed in installation, maintenance, and repair occupations had the lowest rate of working on an average weekend or holiday (10.4 percent) among occupational categories in 2016, while they had one of the highest rates of working on an average weekday (88.7 percent).
