The Producer Price Index (PPI) for final demand goods less foods and energy increased 2.2 percent from May 2016 to May 2017. Within that index grouping, the index for cigarettes gained 7.6 percent and the index for jewelry, platinum and karat gold rose 4.4 percent.

In May 2017, indexes for final demand goods less foods and energy which had the largest over-the-year percentage decrease included sporting and athletic goods (−2.5 percent), textile machinery and equipment (−2.1 percent), and electronic computers and computer equipment (−1.4 percent).
