Professional and business and education and health services had the most job openings in September

The number of job openings was little changed at 6.1 million in September 2017. Over the month, hires and separations were also little changed, at 5.3 million and 5.2 million, respectively. Professional and business services and education and health services had the most job openings at 1.2 million each.
