Employment in warehousing and storage nearly tripled from 409,000 in January 1990 to 1.2 million in August 2019. Within warehousing and storage, growth in general warehousing and storage has outpaced employment growth in refrigerated warehousing and storage and in miscellaneous warehousing and storage.

Employment in general warehousing and storage more than tripled from 349,000 in January 1990 to 1.1 million in August 2019. Over that same period, employment in refrigerated warehousing and storage more than doubled, from 28,000 to 66,000.
