The Consumer Price Indexes for both coffee and instant coffee reached recent peaks in February 2023, while prices for roasted coffee peaked 1 month later in March 2023. Prices for other beverages including tea recently peaked in February 2024. In April 2024, coffee prices were 26.5 percent higher than in April 2010 as prices for roasted coffee were up 29.4 percent and prices for instant coffee rose 8.9 percent. Prices for other beverages including tea were 27.2 percent higher over the period.

From a more recent perspective, 12-month percent changes in prices for coffee and other beverages including tea decreased over the past year. Prices for coffee were 2.0 percent lower in April 2024 than 1 year earlier after rising 6.6 percent in the year ended April 2023. Roasted coffee and instant coffee followed a similar trend, as prices declined 1.9 and 1.8 percent, respectively, in the 12 months ended in April 2024 following increases of more than 6.0 percent each in the same period one year ago. Prices for other beverages including tea also decreased, with three consecutive months of year-over-year declines between February and April 2024.
