From June 2025 to June 2026, nonfarm employment increased in 10 metropolitan areas with a 2020 Census population of 1 million or more, decreased in 2 areas, and was essentially unchanged in 44 areas.

The largest over-the-year percentage increase in employment in these large metropolitan areas occurred in Las Vegas-Henderson-North Las Vegas, Nevada (+2.9 percent), followed by Salt Lake City-Murray, Utah (+2.7 percent), and Raleigh-Cary, North Carolina (+2.6 percent). Over the year, employment decreased in Washington-Arlington-Alexandria, DC-VA-MD-WV (−2.4 percent), and Portland-Vancouver-Hillsboro, Oregon-Washington (−2.1 percent).
