American Time Use Survey

ATUS Questionnaires

The ATUS questionnaire provides the data user with question universes, question wording, response choices, and skip patterns in a readable paper format. The questionnaire includes most, but not all, questions asked in the survey, their descriptions, and the variable names associated with each question. These variable names should not be confused with the variable names provided in the ATUS data dictionaries.
