QCEW Reports and employment - by Type and Source

QCEW data is reported via several channels. A majority of QCEW data comes from state LMI departments who receive data from their UI Tax Department partners. QCEW also collects MWR data electronically via the BLS-operated MWR Web site and the BLS EDI center. BLS manages a contract to print and collect MWR paper forms for 38 states. The remaining states print/mail forms in-house.

BLS offers respondents increased electronic reporting options, working with our MWR contractor to scan as much data as possible electronically, and researching other options to increase web reporting. For more information about these concepts, please call 202-691-6567, or send an email using our QCEW contact page.
