Producer prices edge up in November

The Producer Price Index for Finished Goods advanced 0.1 percent in November, seasonally adjusted. This index rose 0.4 percent in October and 0.9 percent in September.

The index for finished goods other than foods and energy showed no change in November, following a 0.1-percent decline in the prior month. Prices received by manufacturers of intermediate goods decreased 0.2 percent, following a 0.2-percent gain a month earlier. The crude goods index fell 2.0 percent, after a 3.4 percent increase in the previous month.

For the first 11 months of 2000, the Producer Price Index for Finished Goods increased at a 3.9-percent seasonally adjusted annual rate (SAAR). During calendar year 1999 the same index rose 2.9 percent.

From November 1999 to November 2000, prices for finished goods advanced 3.7 percent.
