In June 2024, the proportion of the population that is employed, known as the employment–population ratio, was unchanged at 60.1 percent for people age 16 and over. The ratio was little changed over the year.

For adult men age 20 and over, the employment–population ratio increased 0.5 percentage point in June to 67.8 percent, while the ratio for adult women age 20 and over decreased 0.3 percentage point to 56.5 percent. These ratios were little different from a year earlier.
The employment–population ratios for teenagers (32.9 percent), Whites (60.0 percent), Blacks (58.8 percent), Asians (63.2 percent), and Hispanics (64.2 percent) changed little over the month and were also little changed over the year.
