West Virginia leads job openings rates in June 2025

West Virginia had the highest rate of openings in June 2025, at 6.0 percent, while Washington had the lowest job openings rate, at 3.7 percent. The lowest hires rate was in the District of Columbia, at 2.2 percent, and the highest was Montana’s rate of 4.9 percent. The District of Columbia and Pennsylvania had the lowest total separations rates, at 2.4 percent. Alaska’s total separations rate of 5.3 percent was the highest.

Job openings rates decreased in four states and increased in one state in June 2025. Over the month, hires rates decreased in 11 states and increased in one state. Total separations rates decreased in two states and increased in one state. Nationally, the job openings, hires, and total separations rates showed little change in June.
