American Time Use Survey

American Time Use Survey Well‐Being Module Microdata Files

A Well-Being (WB) Module, sponsored by the National Institute on Aging (NIA), was added to the ATUS and fielded for three full years in 2010, 2012, and 2013. The University of Minnesota and the University of Maryland sponsored another collection of the WB Module in the ATUS from March 1, 2021 through December 31, 2021.

The WB Module data files contain information related to how people felt during selected activities, as well as general health information. This page includes links to the ATUS WB Module microdata files and supporting documentation. Researchers can use the WB Module microdata files to produce their own estimates or do other analyses. Each ZIP file contains a data file along with computer programs that will read the data file into SAS, SPSS, and Stata. The data files are in CSV-format (comma-separated values). The microdata files do not contain estimates.

For more information about ATUS Modules, please see the ATUS Modules page.
