PUMD ERRATA – 2009 Interview MEMB file

Consumer Expenditure Public-Use Microdata

To users of the 2009 Consumer Expenditure Public Use Microdata Files: 

Due to a processing error, several records in 2009Q3 were missing information regarding the 2009 rebate checks for social security recipients in the Interview MEMB file.  This error affected 1,204 records and 6 variables.  No expenditure or income estimates were affected by the missing information.

An addendum file with the additional information will be sent upon request to all users who have received the original release of 2009 data.  Those who purchase the CD after December 15, 2010 can find the addendum file in the folder “Addenda” on the CD.
  
The following Interview Files were affected:

delimited (*.sas7bdata, *.sav, *.dta, *.csv)

ASCII column parametered file type

 Variables affected: PYMT2009, PYMT_009, HWUSED09, HWUS_D09, QSTIMPYX, and QSTI_PYX. 

Each of the above variables are included with the correct values in the “2009 Stimulus” addendum file.  The addendum file can be matched with the originally released 2009Q3 MEMB file with the identifiers NEWID and MEMBNO.

All orders placed after December 15, 2010 will receive the data CD with addendum files contained within.  The corrected CD-ROMs will have a label indicating the most recent version number (v2) for the CD to distinguish them from previously released CDs.
