PUMD ERRATA – IHB and OPI FILES

ERRATA – Consumer Expenditure Public-Use Microdata

To users of the 2013 and 2014 Consumer Expenditure Public Use Microdata Files:

In both the 2013 and 2014 Interview survey expenditure files, the following errors were discovered:

IHB file:
2014Q1 data was reprocessed due to an issue discovered with two IHB records that were erroneously updated. This fix resulted in the removal of 3 records of UCC 580311 and 3 records of UCC 580905 with from the MTBI data.

OPI file:
Also, from 2013Q2 - 2014Q1 there was an instrument error in section 3I (OPI) that resulted in a series of questions not being asked for "inventoried" or previously collected properties. The affected variables were RNTEQVX, PROPVALX, JCPIRE1X, JCPIRE2X, and JCPIRE3X. The affected UCCs were 910105, 910106, and 910107.

No additional addenda are necessary, as the files currently available for download have the appropriate addenda applied. The corrected addenda were added on September 28,2016. Previous versions of the 2013 and 2014 PUMD should be replaced with the current files available online.
