Many discussions in civil society and governments have turned around the evolution of living standards and people's well-being. Evidence can be provided by introducing distributional information into established consumption measures and by considering extended measures that range from adding in free government services all the way to quality of life indicators. The presentation shows some relevant international initiatives in these areas.
