Levy Institute Contract: Integrating Nonmarket Consumption into the BLS Consumer Expenditure Survey
The Levy Institute was awarded a contract to produce a method to measure home production with a period of performance of twelve months beginning September 30, 2021. Their final report identifies data sources and includes the development of an empirical methodology to incorporate household production (nonmarket and nongovernmental services such as do-it-yourself home repairs and childcare) into the consumer expenditure data currently collected by the BLS.
