The largest 1-month percentage increases in employment occurred in Nevada (+8.5 percent), Michigan (+8.1 percent), and Kentucky (+6.6 percent). The largest increases in the number of jobs occurred in California (+558,200, an increase of 3.7 percent), New York (+301,600, or 3.8 percent), and Florida (+296,000, or 3.7 percent).
Among the 12-month percentage decreases in nonfarm payroll employment in June, the largest occurred in Hawaii (−16.0 percent), New York (−15.3 percent), and Massachusetts (−14.4 percent). The smallest percentage declines occurred in Utah (−2.7 percent), Idaho (−3.0 percent), and Arizona (−3.3 percent).
The largest declines in the number of jobs from June 2019 to June 2020 occurred in California (−1,740,600, or −10.0 percent), New York (−1,496,900, or −15.3 percent), and Texas (−696,200, or −5.4 percent). The smallest declines occurred in Wyoming (−22,200, or −7.6 percent), Idaho (−22,900, or −3.0 percent), and Montana (−23,200, or −4.8 percent).
