Real average hourly earnings decreased 2.8 percent from October 2021 to October 2022

Real average hourly earnings for all private nonfarm employees decreased 2.8 percent from October 2021 to October 2022. The decrease in real average hourly earnings combined with a 0.9-percent decrease in the average workweek resulted in a 3.7-percent decrease in real average weekly earnings over the year.

The change in real average hourly earnings combined with a 0.6-percent decrease in the average workweek resulted in a 2.9-percent decrease in real average weekly earnings over the year.
