In 2023, households in the United States spent an average of $294 on alcoholic beverages consumed at home and $343 on alcoholic beverages consumed away from home. Over the last decade, the average expenditures on alcoholic beverages consumed at home ranged from $249 in 2014 to $331 in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. For alcoholic beverages consumed away from home, spending ranged from $147 in 2020 to $343 in 2023.

Prices for alcoholic beverages consumed at home rose 1.1 percent from November 2023 to November 2024. For alcoholic beverages consumed away from home, prices rose 2.7 percent over the year, the same as the overall increase for all items.
