There were 31 major work stoppages that began in 2024 and the same number in effect during the year. There were no work stoppages that began in 2023 and carried over from 2023 into 2024.

In 2024 alone, 16.1 percent of the stoppages beginning in the year involved more than 25,000 workers with 5 of the 31 stoppages meeting this threshold.
