Nonfarm payroll employment increased from June 2024 to June 2025 in 30 metropolitan areas and was essentially unchanged in 357 areas. The largest over-the-year percentage increases in employment occurred in Myrtle Beach-Conway-North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina (+5.2 percent), Rochester, Minnesota (+4.8 percent), and St. George, Utah (+4.3 percent). In terms of number of employees, the employment increases in these three areas ranged from 8,200 in the Myrtle Beach area to 3,700 in St. George. Employment also increased by over 4.0 percent in College Station-Bryan, Texas, and Charleston-North Charleston, South Carolina.

The largest over-the-year employment increases occurred in New York-Newark-Jersey City, New York-New Jersey (+110,100 or 1.1 percent), Los Angeles-Long Beach-Anaheim, California (+53,600 or 0.9 percent), and Philadelphia-Camden-Wilmington, PA-NJ-DE-MD (+46,500 or 1.5 percent). Employment also increased by over 40,000 over the year in Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington, Texas and Miami-Fort Lauderdale-West Palm Beach, Florida.
