August jobless rates up in 6 states, down in 1; payroll jobs up in 4 states, down in 1

In August, unemployment rates were higher in 6 states and the District of Columbia, lower in 1 state, and stable in 43 states. Nonfarm payroll employment increased in 4 states, decreased in 1 state, and was essentially unchanged in 45 states and the District.
