Corrections to Employment Cost Index data

Employment Cost Index data for September 2012 through March 2013, as originally published, contained errors for several series. Similarly, data for September 2012 and December 2012

Employer Costs for Employee Compensation contained errors. Details are listed below.

Additional series were also corrected where the corrected data were different from the original data but those differences were not statistically significant. Series that had both statistically significant corrections and not statistically significant corrections appear in both listings. In some seasonal series, corrections were made to estimates prior to September 2012.

Employer Costs for Employee Compensation Errata Notice

BLS has discovered errors in the Employer Costs for Employee Compensation data for September 2012 and December 2012. There is no impact on March 2013 estimates. The primary errors are in insurance benefits data. Additional series are subject to correction as well. Earlier news releases will not be corrected. Historical and supplemental historical tables for the Employer Costs for Employee Compensation will be updated when corrected data are available. The data series will be corrected in the public database available on the BLS website and the historical listings on the National Compensation Survey and Employment Cost Trends webpages. All corrections will be available prior to July 31, 2013.
