JOLTS Home

The Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey (JOLTS) program of the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) produces monthly and annual estimates of job openings, hires, and separations for the nation. The JOLTS program also produces monthly state estimates for all 50 states and the District of Columbia at the total nonfarm industry level.

The number of job openings was little changed at 6.9 million in January. Hires were unchanged at 5.3 million while total separations changed little at 5.1 million. Annual levels and rates for 2025 are now available.

The Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey for February 2026 is scheduled to be released on March 31, 2026, 10:00 A.M. Eastern Time.

State Job Openings and Labor Turnover annual estimates are expected to be released in July 2026.

7.1 million job openings in November 2025

The number of nonfarm job openings, hires, and total separations each recorded little or no change from October to November 2025. Job openings numbered 7.1 million in November 2025, down by 885,000 over the year. The number of job openings decreased over the month in accommodation and food services; transportation, warehousing, and utilities; and wholesale trade.
