Real average hourly earnings rise 2.4 percent from October 2014 to October 2015

Real average hourly earnings for all employees on private nonfarm payrolls increased 2.4 percent from October 2014 to October 2015. This increase, combined with a 0.3-percent decrease in the average workweek, resulted in a 2.1-percent increase in real average weekly earnings over the year. From October 2013 to October 2014, real average hourly earnings for all employees rose 0.4 percent and real average weekly earnings rose 1.0 percent.

For production and nonsupervisory employees, real average hourly earnings increased 2.6 percent from October 2014 to October 2015. The increase in real average hourly earnings, combined with no change in the average workweek, resulted in a 2.7-percent increase in real average weekly earnings over the year.
