From March 2015 to June 2015, job gains from opening and expanding private sector establishments were 7.6 million. Over this period, gross job losses from closing and contracting private sector establishments were 6.7 million. The difference between the number of job gains and the number of job losses yielded a net employment gain of 829,000 private sector jobs in the second quarter of 2015.

The gain of 7.6 million jobs consisted of 6.2 million jobs at expanding establishments and 1.3 million at opening establishments. Contracting establishments lost 5.5 million jobs in the second quarter of 2015, while closing establishments lost 1.2 million jobs; together these composed the total loss of 6.7 million jobs.
During the second quarter, 3.2 million job gains and 2.9 million job losses occurred at firms with fewer than 50 employees, resulting in a net employment gain of 311,000 at these small firms.
Firms with 50 to 249 employees saw job gains of 1.1 million and job losses of 0.9 million, which was a gain of 192,000.
Large firms, with 250 or more employees, had job gains of 1.9 million and job losses of 1.6 million, a gain of 323,000.
